The recipe in the video will show you how to make one low carb burger bun with few ingredients and very simple to prepare, enriching your meals and making your snack tasty without having to stray from your diet.
Low carb burger buns – Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 100 g (3 ½ oz) butter (or any other low carb fat)
- 150 g (6 oz) almond flour – (3 dl (1 ½ cups))
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
Low Carb Burger Buns – Instructions
Melt the fat at as low a temperature as possible. It needs to be mixed with the eggs, and there is no point in messing with them by adding more fat.
Place the eggs in a bowl and mix them loosely together.
Add the fat. Mix it in.
Place the almond flour on top.
Spread the yeast as evenly as possible over the almond flour.
Mix everything into a dough that is mostly free of lumps.
Pour it into the molds. About 1 dl (½ cup) in each one.
Bake at 175°C (350°F) convection for 15 to 20 minutes. In my molds and oven I have to bake them for 20 minutes.
Let cool. Halve when serving.
Store in the refrigerator. They can be roasted.
Low carb burger buns – Notes
You must use molds for this recipe. Mine are 120 mm (5 inches) in diameter. You can find them online. Without the molds, they will flatten completely.
My molds are called “Disco Per Biscuit – Pavoni Formaflex Molds” – Pavoni being the brand.
You can use butter, chicken fat, lard (pork fat), coconut oil, or other types of oil as the shortening. Even bacon fat is the fat. But the bacon flavor can become overwhelming if you use only that.
If you want to go completely paleo and avoid baking powder, you can simply whip the egg whites and fold them in at the end. Just before baking.
